Getting Started
ChainCheckout is a WooCommerce payment gateway that lets customers pay with cryptocurrency directly into a wallet you control. There’s no processor in between — payments go from the customer’s wallet straight to yours, and you never pay a percentage of your sales.
Before you install
- WordPress with WooCommerce installed and active
- A crypto wallet address for at least one coin you want to accept
- PHP 7.4 or newer (PHP 8.2+ fully supported)
Installation
Option 1 — From your WordPress dashboard
- Go to Plugins → Add New in your WordPress admin
- Search for “ChainCheckout”
- Click Install Now, then Activate
- Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments and enable ChainCheckout
Option 2 — Manual upload
- Download the plugin zip from WordPress.org
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
- Choose the zip file and click Install Now, then Activate
Wallet & Coin Setup
From WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → ChainCheckout, you’ll configure the coin and wallet address customers pay to.
- Click “Manage” next to ChainCheckout to open its settings
- Use the coin search field to find any of 18,000+ supported cryptocurrencies by name or symbol
- Paste the wallet address you want payments sent to
- Save changes — ChainCheckout automatically validates the address format for supported chains
Chains with automatic address validation
- Bitcoin
- Ethereum & EVM chains (including BNB Chain and Polygon)
- Solana
- XRP Ledger
- Litecoin
- Dogecoin
- Cardano
- Tron
For coins outside this list, ChainCheckout still accepts the wallet address — it just won’t run a format check before saving, so double-check it yourself.
The Checkout Experience
Here’s what your customer sees when they choose to pay with crypto:
- They select ChainCheckout at checkout and place the order
- A payment screen shows a QR code, the exact amount to send, and the destination wallet address
- They can optionally upload a transaction screenshot to speed up manual verification
- Once payment is confirmed — automatically with Pro, or manually with the free plugin — their order updates and they see the confirmation page
ChainCheckout works with both the classic WooCommerce checkout and the newer block-based checkout.
Free vs Pro
Activating Your Pro License
- Purchase a Single Site or Enterprise (unlimited sites) license
- Check your email for a license key in the format CCO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
- Install and activate the ChainCheckout Pro plugin (requires the free ChainCheckout plugin as well)
- Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → ChainCheckout Pro → License, and paste your key
- Once validated, all Pro features unlock immediately — no need to reconfigure your wallet settings
Single Site licenses activate on one domain. Enterprise licenses activate on unlimited domains under the same license key — ideal for agencies managing multiple client stores.
Pro Feature Guides
ChainCheckout Pro integrates with WooCommerce Subscriptions. On each renewal date, it automatically generates a fresh crypto payment request and emails the customer the new payment details. If they don’t pay within a few days, a reminder email goes out automatically. No manual invoicing required.
Under ChainCheckout Pro → Branding, set your primary and accent colors, customize the heading text and the “I’ve Made the Payment” button label, and optionally add your own CSS — all without editing a template file. Changes apply instantly to the checkout and thank-you screens.
Crypto network fees can shift between when a customer checks out and when they send payment, sometimes resulting in a slightly short payment. ChainCheckout Pro detects underpayments against a small tolerance threshold and automatically emails the customer to top up the difference — no manual chasing needed.
Connect your own Twilio account under ChainCheckout Pro → Notifications to get a text the moment a customer submits a payment, and optionally text the customer once their payment is confirmed. Great for merchants who want to know about a sale before they even check their email.
Once your license is active, new Pro releases appear right in WP Admin → Plugins with a one-click Update Now link — the same experience as any other plugin. No manual downloads or file replacements required.
